What is net metering?
Net metering is a solar incentive system that allows you to store energy in the power grid. This means that when your solar panels produce more energy than you can use, it will be stored on the grid to use at downtimes when you are in need of more energy like at night or in the Winter. This will offset the cost of that extra energy you needed to use. Although our sales associates carefully examine the size of solar system your home will need in order to determine the exact number of solar panels needed, the amount of energy these panels generate will vary throughout the year. This is completely normal and usually due to shading during different times of the day, rain, clouds, night time, winter, etc. While during other times of the day like at high noon or during the summer season your system is creating more energy than you could ever use in a day. This is where the net metering system comes into play to account for these differences by letting you store your excess energy your panels produce in order to use it later on.
This system is amazing and can help save you money and potentially completely offset your energy bill. Net metering is in most of the United States but check with your guidelines to make sure you can take advantage of this great perk.
